The independent aftermarket (IAM) is facing major challenges. With IAM:CONNECT, we are creating a platform for open dialogue and forward-looking solutions.

Looking to the future, how do independent repair shops see it? What challenges do they face today? As part of our IAM:CONNECT dialogue initiative, we asked 274 workshops in Germany about their views. Sliding to the left will give you an initial insight into the results.
This is the percentage of all workshops surveyed that are already authorised to repair high-voltage vehicles. However, only around 20 percent currently have the necessary certificates to carry out all work on high-voltage vehicles - including components that are under voltage. Looking ahead, there's still a pressing need to make progress in this area.
Only around one in seven independent garages (14 percent) will generate at least half of their turnover from electric vehicles within the next five years. Within the next twenty years, this figure will rise to 61 per cent. Did you expect that?
What are the most relevant services at the garage of the future? In the lead with 82 per cent is the maintenance and repair of driver assistance systems. Second and third place on the list of future services are taken by eco-friendly disposal and recycling of batteries as well as the maintenance and repair of e-vehicles and vehicles with alternative engines, each at 80 per cent.
